-- October 2, at 6:04 pm, 55-year-old James Martin is killed with a single bullet as he walks across a supermarket parking lot in Wheaton, Maryland, north of Washington.
-- October 3, at 7:41 am, James Buchanan, 39, is shot dead while mowing a lawn in the nearby Maryland suburb of Rockville.
-- October 3, at 8:12 am, Indian taxi driver Premkumar Walekar, 54, is killed by a single shot while putting gas in his car in Aspen Hill, Maryland, also just north of Washington.

-- October 9, at 8:18 pm, Dean Harold Meyers, 53, is shot dead as he fills his car at a gas station in Manassas, Virginia, southwest of Washington.
-- October 11, at 9:40 am, Kenneth Bridges, 53, returning to his home in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, stops at a gas station along the way near Fredericksburg, Viriginia to get gas. He is shot dead with one bullet.
-- October 14, at 9:19 pm, Linda Franklin, 47, is shot and killed as she loads purchases from a hardware store into her car at a shopping center in Falls Church, Virginia in the suburbs west of Washington.
